The White Pass & Yukon Route.
[142244] (ALASKA - PHOTOGRAPHY) [Anon.].
[N.p.]: [s.n.], [n.d., ca. 1910 ?]. Photograph. Image approximately 8 x 6 inches. Mount 10½ x 8½ inches. Corners of mount are worn or slightly stained; verso of mount, blank, with old stains, else very good. An original photograph on a large printed mounted with the words “The White Pass & Yukon Route” printed vertically on the left side. The photograph depicts a hale-looking mountain climber or hiker on the trail, in full profile, with a walking stick in his hand. The unidentified man is posed on a mountain side. Behind him are dramatic snow-covered mountains. This route is located in Skagway, Alaska, and was built to bring eager gold seekers to the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. It is noted for its difficult terrain and its magnificent splendor. Presumably, this would be a tourist photograph that one would have taken, perhaps before starting on the trailhead. $125
